This photo of Bickford Ranch is what local land use planning and decision-making looks like in Placer County 24 hours after project approval. Ten thousand (10,000) Blue oaks are in jeopardy because the Board of Supervisors has ignored its own General Plan. The Clover Lakes project in Placer promises to kill another 8,000 oaks, destroy indian artifacts and fill wetlands - fine results, according to these decision-makers.
Orange County has the same problem with Saddle Creek/Saddle Crest and Rancho Mission Viejo, destroying and fragmenting wildlife habitat and watershed lands.
Tejon Ranch is slated to destroy thousands of acres of pristine oak woodland, rich in the diversity that Californians have always been proud to steward.
Your help, with a donation earmarked for the Legal Defense of Oaks, is needed.
We must fight back - or lose the important oak woodland ecosystem that defines our state's remarkable signature landscape.
